These include: spare tire(s), a tire-changing kit, jumper cables, a weapon if possible, and a small bag with a change of clothes and a few nonperishable food items, along with bottles of water. You will want to remember to change these items out once in a while, as most of them will never be used – and thank goodness for that! This piece of advice is a little on the scary side, because you’ll have to put your trust in someone, but it is well worth it if you have that someone that you can count on. This is where you use the buddy system, not just when it comes to your family, but being able to trust a nearby neighbor or a friend that doesn’t live too far away. During big disasters, larger groups are generally safer than singular travelers or small groups.
