Stockpiles are probably your best bet when survival prepping, or
“doomsday prepping,” because they eliminate your need to travel for
resources. If you have an impressive inventory of canned goods, can-
dles, toiletries, first aid items, books, tools, and more, then you are likely
never going to have to venture out into dangerous territory to get what
you need. This doesn’t mean you should go out and buy all of your
items in bulk at once, but rather keep them and rotate by expiration as
needed. Many stockpiles take years to fully develop, and thus are ex-
tremely organized and useful, because they have been carefully
thought out and planned for.
Of course, staying in your home and locking it down sometimes is not
an option. When all else fails, you are going to want to have an escape
route. This means always keeping a few gas cans filled up and ready
to go, and having a spare key to your vehicle of choice readily avail-
able. The spare key is a necessity, being that certain situations will
leave the belongings on your person stranded from the get-go.
