Located in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains , Bentonville is easily accessible from most major cities by air and just a short drive from Kansas City , Dallas , Oklahoma City , St Louis and Little Rock . The fall foliage is not to be missed , gorgeous vistas lit up with gold , orange , yellow and red ( and everything in between ) are visible from late October through mid-November . Blessed by mild winters and a shady canopy in the summer , Bentonville is a place where you can ride 365 days of the year , weather permitting .

While in town , be sure to check out Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art . Founded in 2005 by the Walton Family Foundation , Crystal Bridges ' permanent collection spans five centuries of American masterworks , ranging from the Colonial era to the current day . Bentonville is best known as the home of Walmart , located downtown on the square , the Walmart Museum is the original location of the Walton 5 & 10 . The Museum of Native American History is not to be missed , with artifacts dating over 14,000 years old ; You can take a walk through prehistoric history .
