The winter season presents even more of a challenge when it comes to finding new and unique things to do in the snow . Thankfully , however , sports enthusiasts around the country are constantly trying to one-up the industry when it comes to promoting a new snow skill . Take , for example , Ski Biking , or “ Ski bobbing ,” a sport in which bike wheels are replaced with skis to form a sort of vehicle that can glide through the snow and down steep slopes at moderate speeds .
According to participants , the vehicle is easy to steer , making this an easier sport than other extreme options . It is noted that the invention of this vehicle existed as early as 1892 , but the first race , making ski bobbing an actual sport , wasn ’ t held until 1954 . Therefore , the use of these unique vehicles is not as popular as their traditional counterparts . It is often hard to find skibob rentals and most resorts do not offer tours or day trips involving them .

Vail , Colorado is a number one pick when booking any ski trip , so it comes to no surprise that they ’ ve also got the 411 on ski bobbing ( or biking ) as well . Their motto is : “ Part bike . Part Skis . All adventure .” If that isn ’ t enticing enough , they also offer packages during your trip to allow for a guided tour . You can bring up to 18 people in one group to try your hand at the activity , and the cost is only $ 90 per person . Something that is unique to Vail is the nighttime tour option .
