North Toledo Bend State Park and South Toledo Bend State Park
Louisiana’s State Parks & Historic Sites
Consistently ranked top among fishers, Toledo Bend Reservoir
is flanked at the north and south by two premier Louisiana State
Parks. North Toledo Bend State Park, near Zwolle, and South Toledo
Bend State Park, near Anacoco, provide opportunities to get out
on the reservoir and enjoy a day of fishing, while experiencing
Louisiana’s natural beauty.
Both parks provide boat launch areas, complete with parking lots,
boat ramps, and fish cleaning stations. Largemouth bass, catfish,
bream and white perch are in abundant supply in the reservoir,
making for a great day of casting. For those not-so-interested in
fishing, there are natural trails that wind through the rolling upland
woodlands of the area. Bald eagles are a common site at the parks, as
the birds’ migration leads them along the reservoir.
At the end of the day, the parks accommodate both those who
prefer to sleep in tents and those who prefer a roof over their heads.
The campgrounds at both parks are equipped with water and
electrical hookups, while deluxe cabins comfortably sleep up to six
people each.
Visitors to State Parks located throughout Louisiana can hike, fish,
bike and enjoy birding and nature trails. Most State Parks feature a
waterfront location, campsites and picnic areas. Several have fully
outfitted cabins and/or group camps, which, like other buildings in
the parks, were designed to reflect each park's cultural environment
and ambiance.
