Update your personal tax information. A couple of small changes can
help you find more money in your pocket by decreasing the amount of income
tax you pay. See pages 33-36 for more info.
Get to know the tax credits and deductions. The earlier you know which
credits and deductions you now qualify for, the sooner you can start taking
advantage of them. See pages 33-36 for more info on tax credits and deduc-
tions.
Name a guardian. Have plans are in place in the event that you and your
spouse are unable to take care of your child. Make sure to discuss this with the
guardian you choose. See page 37 for info on wills.
Write or update your will. Your will decides who will inherit your property,
become the guardian of your children, and who will handle your financial affairs
in the event of your death. If you don't have a will, the courts will decide who
will become the guardian of your children and how your assets are divided. See
page 37 for more info on wills.
Insurance coverage. Review and check your insurance coverage to see
whether you have enough coverage. See pages 13-14 for more information on
insurance.
