Bărăgan

Once upon a time there was a boy called Vasile. He lived in a small village, not far from
the Bărăgan. When he was little he liked dragons very much and he had a dragon.
One day, he went to the Bărăgan. There was only wheat, there, Vasile had asked his friend
to come there, but he couldn’t come. So, Vasile was alone. He was walking on de plain, when he
heard a noise. All of a sudden, a dragon appeared in front of him. Vasile got scared. It wasn’t a
usual dragon. When the dragon came next to Vasile, he began to speak. He said:
- ‘How are you? Are you afraid of me? I am a good dragon. I don’t do anything wrong! I
love children and I like you! Do you want us to be friends?’
- ‘Oh, yes! I like dragons very much!’
And so they became friends. In the evening, Vasile came home. The dragon was sorry to
be left alone again. When Vasile came home, his mother asked him what he had done all day.
Vasile told her he had seen a real dragon and they became friends. His mother was surprised and
she didn’t believe him. Because it was late Vasile went to sleep.
In the morning, Vasile went to the Bărăgan again. When he got there, he saw that the
dragon had burnt everything around. There wasn’t anything left. All the wheat was burnt down.
The people had worked in vain. Vasile decided to explain to the dragon why he did a bad thing.
First, Vasile told him about the importance of wheat in people’s lives. The dragon listened and he
was amazed.
Evening came, so Vasile went home. The second day, Vasile went to Bărăgan again. The
dragon was sleeping. Vasile called him and they decided to help the people. So they started to
grow wheat again!
Two months later the wheat green… The people were very impressed. The dragon and
Vasile worked very much. They put fertilizers and watered the wheat, within these two months.
Finally the wheat grew, the dragon and Vasile become friends with all the villagers and they all
were very happy. The dragon came to understand how important wheat was for the villagers and
he never burnt it again.
Magic land

Rumours say that here is a miraculous lake that can cure any type of diseases, even the
mental ones. This rumour spread pretty fast and a lot of people wondered if they should try and
find that lake, if it was worth going through dangerous places just to find a lake that didn’t
necessary exist. Only one man didn’t hesitate for one second and began his trip. His name was
Ioan, a brave 16 year old boy who was suffering from a mental disease and he could always hear
strange voices around him crying and screaming. His parents died a long time ago and no one
helped him anymore. He was always discriminated by the other boys and he was often called the
,,crazy boy’’.
He couldn’t resist anymore so he started his long trip. At the beginning he only knew that
the lake should be somewhere in Bărăgan area so he started asking villagers and random people.
He found out that the lake was in a haunted forest, but that didn’t stop him. After several days of
starvation he found a generous man who offered him enough food for the rest of the trip. He
thanked him several times and continued his journey. Ioan arrived in the forest where the lake was
supposed to be. He could already hear strange noises coming from the forest, it was like the trees
were calling him. He made the first step in the forest. Nothing could stop him now, not even a
ghost. He was barely breathing and his heart was beating harder and harder. It was quiet, maybe
too quiet. He could only hear his heart beating and his steps. It was getting darker as he was
searching the lake. Ioan found a forest glade where he sat down because he was really tired. Then
suddenly he heard a splash in the water. He woke up and ran towards that noise to discover the
