SOUTH WEST agent profile Introducing Jason Dragstra When he first came to Busselton 10 years ago, Jason had no idea the move would lead to a very successful career in real estate. “I’m originally from Canada and initially my partner Estelle and I were simply intending to wait out the required amount of time before she could re-enter Canada. In the meantime, we got married, took a good look around, and said ‘why would we leave?’ “So we settled in and started raising a family. In fact we’ve only recently gone back to Canada, but just for a holiday, Busselton is where we want to be.” Jason found work as a car salesman, and a chance encounter saw him move into real estate. “I was trying to sell a car to a potential customer. He didn’t like the car, but it seems I made an impression and he offered me a job as a real estate sales representative. The rest is history.” Jason started his career at the end of the boom, when the South West market had almost come to a standstill. He says it was a difficult time, but in hindsight it was the best thing that could have happened. “It was hard work, I learned everything I could about the market, I followed up every lead, worked closely with my clients to set a market-ready price, and honed my promotional and negotiation skills. There was no room for complacency, it was a baptism by fire and it really taught me to sell.” Jason’s dedication and perseverance made a strong impression on the local market and he quickly built a very successful career. He has been named ACTON South West’s Champion Salesperson for the last three years and has also received three Silver ACTON Outstanding Achievement Awards. This year he received a Gold award. Jason specialises in the Busselton area stretching from Wonnerup to Abbey and those who have worked with him will tell you he has superb communication skills, including an ability to listen and a strong sense of empathy. For him, it’s not about the deal, he strives to understand the reasons behind the sale and the motivations of his clients - they may be looking to downsize or need more room for their family, maybe they want a quick sale as they are being transferred due to work, perhaps they want to reduce their debt.
