Opening Night Israeli Film, Food & Wine Event
Thursday, January 19
Dinner at 6:30 pm, Film at 7:30 pm
(Dinner sponsored by Lynn and Jay Schwartz)
The night after their grandfather’s funeral,
three cousins engage in a verbal (and
sometimes physical) battle. In one corner
is Daphna Feygenbam, a “Real Jew” who is
volatile, self-assured and unbending. In the
other is her equally stubborn cousin Liam, a
secular and entitled young man, who has his
shiksa girlfriend, Melody, in tow. Stuck in the
middle is Liam’s brother, Jonah, who tries to
stay out of the fray. When Liam stakes claim
to their grandfather’s Chai necklace, a vicious
and hilarious brawl over family, faith and
legacy ensues.
Join us for the 7th Annual Israeli Film Festival
here at the Weinstein JCC. The weekend’s
events will open with a delicious celebration
of Israeli Food and Wine from the country’s
growing wine industry. The opening night
film is the documentary, In Search of Israeli
Cuisine, in which Chef Michael Solomonov
travels Israel to determine what – if anything –
is “Israeli Cuisine.” Please visit weinsteinjcc.org
for details, times, and film trailers.
