Rabbi Rami Shapiro Living Fully , Dying Mindfully
This program is presented in partnership with the Chrysalis Institute .
Hidden within the human spiritual quest is the desperate urge to escape death . Whether we are talking about heaven , hell , reincarnation , or past life regression , in this life we are dealing with an ego-centered worldview that insists , “ I am too important to be temporary .” We must let go of this point of view to find beauty in the reality of death as an extension of our lives . One way to do that is to understand the true nature of reality as a nondual process of birthing and dying in which nothing lasts but the process itself .
Participants will take away three things from this lecture : First , a non-dual understanding of birth / death as a seamless process of divine happening ; second , an invitation to closely examine conventional dualistic worldviews promote an ego-centric spirituality antithetical to authentic awakening ; and third , practices that will help them shift from the dual to the non-dual .
A Jewish practitioner of Perennial Wisdom , Rabbi Rami Shapiro is an award – winning author of over thirty books on religion and spirituality . He received rabbinical ordination from the Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion , and holds a PH . D . in religion from Union Graduate School . A congregational rabbi for 20 years , and a professor of religious studies for ten ( Middle Tennessee State University ), Rabbi Rami currently directs the One River Foundation and its World Wisdom Bible project . ( www . oneriverfoundation . org ), writes a regular column for Spirituality and Health magazine called Roadside Assistance for the Spiritual Traveler , and hosts the magazine ’ s weekly radio show , Essential Conversations with Rabbi Rami . His newest book is The World Wisdom Bible ( SkyLight Paths , 2017 ).
