Welcome Members and Friends, “Warm,” “welcoming,” and “friendly” are just some of the ways our members regularly describe the Carole and Marcus Weinstein Jewish Community Center. And from my very first visit here, I felt that same inclusiveness. As soon as you walk in, you sense a special warmth and understand that this isn’t your average gym, preschool or community center. At the Weinstein JCC, we are building a community that celebrates diversity and strives to infuse kindness in everything we do. This October, we are taking this effort to the next lev- el with the one-of-a-kind HARMONY concert at the Altria Theater. This fun and enriching afternoon of singing and synergy will be unlike any other. You won’t want to miss it! And as we kick-off a new fiscal year September 1, we continue our focus on enhancing programming areas such as our cultural arts, fitness and education offerings as well as deepening our connections with Israel and our Jewish heritage, and are incredibly excited about our progress and our commitment to living the value of “hachnasat orchim” — welcoming ALL into our home. Today, our Center is remarkably well-positioned to engage the entire RVA community with amazing, celebratory experiences infused with Jewish values. We hope you will join us as we work together to identify innovative ways to inspire, engage and include all ages, faiths and abilities to take advantage of everything the Weinstein JCC has to offer. Looking forward to an enriching and exciting fall! Rick Nelson, CEO CEO Rick Nelson with Marcus Weinstein in the Sara D.
