Winter Wildlife Tracking Preschool Nature Outings
Held at Churchill Park See Locations Below
Age: All (Best for Ages 5 & Up)
Finding animal tracks in the snow can reveal untold stories of
animal adventures. Learn the prints and patterns of our common
neighborhood mammals. If there is snow, we will spend time looking
for tracks. If there is no snow, the focus will be searching for other
animal evidence like nests, dens, hollow trees, chewed vegetation, and
other signs. Instructor: Renae Frigo. Min/Max: 4/10. (rf) Age: 3-5 with Adult
Join us for one or all of these outings. Explore the park as we walk in
search of the featured topic. All activities will be outdoors, so please
dress for the cold weather. Min/Max: 5/12. (rf)

Owl Pellet Dissection
Held at Ackerman Park
Age: 8-12
Learn what owls eat as we extract “prey” bones from pellets the
owl cough up. Sound gross? Most kids truly enjoy this activity that
empowers young scientists through inquiry and discovery. The pellets
we purchase are from barn owls and come sterilized. Participants will
learn about local owls, how they hunt, and why they cough up pellets.
They will then use bone charts to determine what type of animal the
owl ate. Min/Max: 5/12. (rf)
