Ellyn Park District has been an integral part of this community by providing beautiful parks, fun playgrounds, and a variety of recreational opportunities. It all started with the simple purchase of thirteen acres of land around Lake Ellyn, and has since grown to encompass 29 park sites, multiple facilities, and hundreds of events and programs each year. I want to take this opportunity to thank the Glen Ellyn community for many years of incredible support! As we celebrate the Glen Ellyn Park District's 100th anniversary throughout 2019, we look forward to bringing our community a multitude of opportunities highlighting the Park District's wonderful facilities and parks. The celebration kicks off on January 6th with the Winter Gym Jam at Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center, which will feature giant games and inflatable attractions. January 2019 will also feature the celestial event of the year - a total lunar eclipse! We hope to see you at the Lake Ellyn Boathouse to watch this incredible and rare phenomenon on January 20th. We invite you to visit www.gepark.org/timeline to read and to reflect on our timeline that illustrates the history of the Park District, and be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for pop-up events throughout the season. Finally, I am excited to announce that the improvements to the Ackerman Sports & Fitness Center parking lot are complete. We appreciate your understanding, your patience, and your continued patronage during the improvement project. The results are well worth it! I look forward to witnessing the future growth of our Park District, and I am confident that our strong foundation and plans for the future will allow the District to thrive as it has over the past 100 years. On behalf of the Glen Ellyn Park District, I invite you to join us in celebrating this very special 100th anniversary with us.
