Summer Slime, Squishy Toys
& Splat Balls
Held at Spring Avenue Recreation Center
Age: 6-12
Slime, squishy toys, and splat balls continue to be all the RAGE with
kids! Why is the world squishing? We will find out! Create summer
slime in the concoction lab then learn the science of “splat” during
splat ball scatter, and finally compare/contrast the properties of
squishy toys to the human body. This is crazy summer fun for kids!
Every participant will go home with the slime they made and a squishy

BABYSITTING
Babysitting for Success
Held at Spring Avenue Recreation Center
Age: 10 & Up
Students engage in discussion, role playing and practical experiences
to learn diapering, feeding, playing with children, child development,
handling emergencies and first aid. A reference book and other
resource materials are included. Students should bring a snack and
a doll to class. Students are awarded certificates upon completion.

Thrills and Chills of Ice Cream Science
Held at Spring Avenue Recreation Center
Age: 5-13
Making and eating ice cream is a fun way to introduce early physics
and chemistry teachings to children. Kids can become an expert
on this beloved treat as we make a batch of homemade ice cream.
Explore the science of the amusement park treat, Dippin’ Dots, then sit
down for the most outrageous ice cream eating contest in town. This
class and all about putting the fun back into learning while exploring
both Chemical and Industrial Engineering concepts, along with how
this treat evolved. Don’t wear your Sunday best to this event, we will
get sticky! Lots of tastings and a themed souvenir included. Min/Max:

Root Beer Rocks

Age: 5-13
Brewing homemade root beer is a ridiculously fun and tasty way to
introduce early chemistry teachings to children! Kids can become a
history and science expert on this beloved bubbly drink as we produce
a batch of root beer. Next, the class will cast their vote for BEST ROOT
BEER IN TOWN as they taste test a flight of 5 different unidentified
sumptuous foamy brands. Finally, kids will complete their experience
by preparing their own customized “black cow” (root beer float)! This
is a child’s dream class and all about putting the fun back into learning.
