Glow in the Park Lantern Walk

The Glen Ellyn Park District is again partnering with Charlie’s Corner Foundation, with
proceeds benefiting Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, for an
exciting evening of family activities. Watch as the sun sets on Lake Ellyn and we make
the jewel of Glen Ellyn glow! Enjoy activities, food, music and more until the sun goes
down, and then don’t miss the lantern parade around Lake Ellyn. Participants will have
an opportunity to create their own paper lantern for the walk ($10 fee, while supplies
last; decorations provided); otherwise bring your own creation to the event! Don’t
know how to make one? Register for one of our paper lantern workshops listed below!
What is a paper lantern? It is a simple, decorated lantern orb-on-a-stick lighted with
battery-operated LEDs. The lanterns will be carried by participants around the lake.
Prizes awarded for most creative lanterns! Lantern kits will be available for advanced
purchase at the Spring Avenue Recreation Center beginning July 9. [JR]

Paper Lantern Workshops
Age: All
Instructors will guide you through the creation of your very own paper lantern
masterpiece - perfect for the Glow in the Park Lantern Walk on September 16. We’ll
provide everything you need to create a work of art - and you get to take your lantern
home at the end of the workshop! Fee includes all materials. Min/Max: 10/25. [JR]

Platform Tennis Open
House & Exhibition
FREE CLINICS FOR NEW PLAYERS
Learn the game of Platform Tennis, how to become involved in the program, all while
socializing and enjoying some light sn acks & beverages. Several of the area’s top
platform tennis professionals will be on hand to provide instruction on grips, rules and
strategies. Clinic ends with a Pro Exhibition and open play from 8pm-9pm. This event
is free but registration is required. All ages welcome. [KE]
