Message to our Volunteers and Parents 2 To the dedicated families and leaders of Scouting, Thank you for spending your time, talent and treasures in Scouting. With your help, youth in our communities will experience an enriching adventure in Scouting. They will learn values as set forth in the Scout Oath and Law, which become the framework to their moral code as they grow to adulthood. Our mission remains both powerful and impactful: “to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values in the Scout Oath and Law”. The Boy Scouts of America has put together great age-specific programs, which you will find in all national handbooks and literature. What you might not know is that your council, the Cascade Pacific Council, is working diligently to ensure that you and your youth have access to the best possible adventures through resources and programs conducted locally. This guide is a tool and resource for you. It highlights the diverse, vibrant educational programs and resources available to you, the parent or leader here in the Cascade Pacific Council. Please use this in tandem with the support of your district and council leadership to make your Scouting program the best it can be. Our challenge to you is to make Scouting as fun for you as for your children. It is our hope that every Scout has a trained leader, attends summer camp, use our council product sales to fund his entire year, and utilize the outstanding off season opportunities like Parent and Son weekends, Super Weekends, Winter lodges and Horse riding programs. You will find this information and so much more in the pages that follow. You are supported by dedicated and knowledgeable council staff members who stand ready to help you, please contact us anytime that you need assistance. Sincerely, Matt Devore Scout Executive & CEO This Activities guide is your tool. In the front of this guide you will find a catalog of activities. They are broken down into outdoor activities and camping, service opportunities and community events. These make up a great mixture of program opportunities. The pages that follow will include a program planning calendar especially prepared for your unit. This guide should help you better understand the types of activities and programs at your fingertips but also how to best plan your year.
