Pack Camping
Cub Scouts can camp! Every pack’s annual
plan should include outings in addition to day
camp or resident camp. Young boys have a
great desire for outdoor fun, excitement, and
adventure. These experiences encourage
them to spend quality time with family and
friends. A successful outdoor program that
meets the goals of the Cub Scout program
ensures that all activities are appropriate for
the target age group. Age-Appropriate
Guidelines for Scouting activities and the
Guide to Safe Scouting are both available on
the Cascade Pacific Council website. One
member of the Pack must have completed
Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation to
participate (BALOO) to do pack camping.

Weekend Camping
Most of the council's eighteen properties
are available for weekend camping.
Some are primitive sites, others feature
adirondacks (three-sided cabins that
sleep six to eight) or mini-Dack (tent-
sized structures that sleep two) for easy
rainy season adventures. Troops that
reach their Friends of Scouting goal are
treated to free use of campsites.

Weekend Horse Riding —
A rare adventure for every Scout!
Most boys in today’s society will never get a
chance to ride a horse, but Cascade Pacific
Council Scouts can at Butte Creek Scout
Ranch. Allow our weekend wranglers—all
experienced riders– to introduce your Scouts to
horsemanship on half-day or full-day horseback
ride. Your Scouts will get basic instruction and
demonstration before the group departs for a
ride through forested areas surrounding the
homestead. Throw in on-site camping, and
you’ve got a memorable weekend .
Must be 10 years or older to participate in a
half or full day ride. New: Lil Buckaroo Cub
Scout Program for 1-3rd Graders. Invite your
whole pack for the day of horse riding.
(If you’re involved with other youth groups, boys
and/or girls, we’d love to host them for a riding
event. Please inquire with our camping
department at 503.226.3423)
