French Actors

Gérard Depardieu

Gérard Depardieu is one of the most famous French actors. He has won several awards, including one nomination for Best Actor Academy Award and BAFTA1992 Award for his role in Cyrano de Bergerac, and another Oscar in 1991. For the same benefit of high artistic level has been honored with “Palm d’Or” at Cannes in 1990. Also, due to the known character of Edmond Rostand received a Golden Globe award for Best Actor.

Louis de Funés enjoyed huge success in most of Europe and western Asia for several years. In a survey in 1968 he was voted the most popular French actor. Most of his successful films, such as the series The Troops of St. Tropez (Le gendarme de Saint-Tropez), are based on visual gags. Although Funes was perfectly able to interpret serious roles with sufficient subtlety, he was best known for grimaces and exagerated facial expressions.
