Xavier Dolan

Xavier Dolan was born on March 20th 1989 in Montréal, Québec. His mother is Marianne Dolan and his dad Manuel Trados, actor, dancer and singer. He introduced him to the world of cinema when he was very young. But his parents separated two years later so Xavier enjoyed a lot of freedom and lived a chaotic adolescence.

In his childhood he played in several publicity, TV movies or series. His voice also served the Quebec version of Harry Potter to double the character of Ron Weasley.

In 2007 he was accepted in the university of arts, literature and cinema but he left very quickly to find total freedom in his art. He began to write and direct his first movie, J'ai tué ma mére. This is an autobiographical film about the ambiguous relationship he had with his mother.

Finding no one to finance his project he did himself until the SODEC Québécoise decided to help him. He gilm was shown at the festival de Cannes in 2009 where he was acclaimed. He received three awards and all the people present at the projection cried. After that he moved on with the direction of his second and third movie , Les amours imaginaire and Laurence anyway. He received several other prizes especially in Canada
