Q . What changes have you seen in the Stockyards over the years ? The Stockyards has changed a lot . It used to be much busier destination as the primary night spots . Bar owners didn ’ t seem to get along as well . Today , we have a common goal ... get people to the Stockyards , and the Stockyards are starting to pick up .

Q . If you could say one thing about your bar that nobody else has , what would it be ? I believe in positive and negative energies . I think Thirsty Armadillo has the most positive energy of any place I ’ ve been . Everyone gets along and has one common goal ... see great music .

01 .

Q . What do you like most about Thirsty ’ s ? The main reason I ’ m back in the business is to help young artists reach their goals . I don ’ t like the bar business ... but I like seeing bands improve and make it .

Q . What is the selection process like for booking a band at Thirsty Armadillo ? When booking bands I truly look for bands that are passionate about their art , not just trying to make a living . Having a good fan-base doesn ’ t hurt though ! [ Laughs ]

Tell us about Thirsty ’ s Throw-Down , and what you ultimately hope to see from it . I created Thirsty ’ s Throw-Down with a year of thought and preparation . It ’ s a battle of bands of sorts . I created the event to have an amazing live album that people would talk about for years to come . Nick Verzosa ’ s , Live at Thirsty Armadillo , did just that . Green Light Pistol is one of the 12 bands in this year ’ s Throw-Down beginning 5 / 3 and concluding 8 / 2 / 13 . I hope that Thirsty Armadillo is recognized as a true live music venue where bands want to cut live albums .

Q . What is Chicken-Shit Bingo , and how did it come to be ? Chicken-Shit Bingo is every 1st , 3rd , and 5th Saturday at 6:30 . Basically we have 100 squares on a board . When customers reach $ 10 on their tab or purchase Thirsty merch they get a square . The 3 chickens enter the board area and whatever squares they soil split $ 100 . It ’ s a lot of fun ! And the Jim Bowies truly make it a memorable and enjoyable experience . We have over 100 people see the show every time . There are several different groups that drive from over 200 miles away to see it . Many people come every Saturday . It ’ s by far my favorite time of the week . A GREAT show !
