“ Caged bird was written by myself and John John [ John Streun ], about three years ago . It ’ s got a lot of soul and a lot of heart . It ’ s one of those songs that you can ’ t sing unless it ’ s in your heart . It ’ s about a guy that has been locked up from everything and shut out , and about a girl that your always thinking about . Like most of my songs it comes from a lot of emotion ; a heartfelt song that you actual feel . Most of my songs are better with just me and my guitar , and then it just sort of works out with the band . Some people sing about partying , some people sing about living in the country , I sing about those moments that really made me feel something . It is nice to see people dance to my songs , though . That ’ s always one of my favorite things about playing a show . I look at the music scene in a little bit of a different way ; I got my own style and all my songs are about things that are about personal times in my life . I don ’ t play for the money or to make a living ; I just play to make good music that people enjoy .”
