new, fast-paced lightning session featuring the Fresh Ideas
Poster participants. These students and young professionals
won their Section poster competitions to attend and compete
at ACE18. Presenters will have 3–5 minutes to summarize their
posters at the podium prior to the poster competition. Come
support these impressive water professionals and explore a
wide range of important water industry topics and challenges.

Addressing Lead in Schools

With the attention surrounding the issue of lead in drinking water,
there is a renewed pressure to test for the problem in schools.
While schools bear the responsibility of minimizing lead exposure
in their facilities, some water systems may be in a position to
provide valuable assistance for monitoring and managing lead.
This session highlights progress and approaches for assisting
schools develop and implement a sampling protocol to test for
lead in their drinking water as well as the process for undertaking
remediation.
