2019 | WELCOME Contents 04 Crewing 05 Drones 06 Event Wi-Fi 07 Furniture 08 Temporary Power 09 Trackway 10 Transport & Logistics A s we put 2018 in the rear-view, there’s much to reflect on that’s changed the industry – perhaps not in as dramatic a way as 2017 with its terror attacks – but certainly in ways that have shifted public perception. We enjoyed one of the best summers on record, which boosted outdoor events, sealing many happy memories that will translate to better sales next year, we hope. On the downside, there were several high profile drug deaths and accidents including a pier collapse at O Marisquiño festival in Spain. With the work of organisations like The Loop coming to the fore, and more and more sophisticated safety examinations and innovations, let’s hope the future is less beset by these tragedies. The risks from inexperienced organisers were also laid bare in Access. The notorious Fyre Festival, which took place in 2017, is now the subject of eight lawsuits, one seeking more than $100m in damages. Meanwhile, closer to home, several events didn’t live up to audience expectations, including Peaky Blinders festival. A commonality in all these cases is the power of social media to get your voice heard. Perhaps, in the long run, these mediums will act as a deterrent for ill-intentioned agents, and will be used to promote the fine work our industry should be appluaded for. The suppliers you’ll hear from herein are producing innovative solutions to problems that often are only just getting on planners’ radars. We hope it helps you better plan for 2019 and beyond, whatever that might entail.
