Organisational Development organisational readiness comes in. And the stakes are high – our work with the NHS is always reminding us of that – where every minute spent outside the wards is a minute a patient isn’t being treated. If you get organisational readiness right, you can embed processes to improve flexibility, increase the quality/accuracy of service provision, progress service innovation, etc. In the NHS, this means improving, and sometimes even saving, lives. Achieving organisational readiness As HR staff, it’s vital we understand the journey our colleagues are going on, what we can do to support them, and what will make them embrace change. And that’s the crux of it all – embracing change and providing the environment to embrace change. Change is one of life’s great constants – it never ‘goes away’ – it’s never ‘done’. There is a plethora of change models to help (pick the one that fits your organisation), but what we’d say is if you haven’t done the preparatory work, it’s not going to work!
