Unfortunately , neither the college nor the secondary schools met their financial goals for the year . There were numerous reasons for this which the school administrations and board have carefully analyzed . And both are taking actions to rectify the situation , with the anticipation of being on financial track again in the coming year . As always , donor support is a huge factor enabling us to provide New Church education at the Academy .
Glencairn continues to receive more recognition as a premier religious museum . Perhaps less well known are its many programs for elementary school students and summer camps , creating a connection between children , art and history . Cairnwood Estate continues to provide a venue for numerous Academy functions , in addition to its rentals being a welcoming portal to the world around us .
The Academy began as a concept – an ideal of bringing the teachings of the New Church down into an educational institution that could promote the growth and development of the Lord ’ s church on earth . Through a gathering of New Church board members , faculty and administrators , students are provided the opportunity of developing their faith , of seeing the connection between spiritual truths and natural truths in all subject areas , of advancing their athletic and artistic skills , and of growing into the kind of human beings from which heaven is made . While this ideal will never be perfectly executed , it is the goal towards which we strive . And we trust that the Lord uses our efforts that the New Jerusalem may continue its descent upon the earth .
