We emphasize performance and assessment, which helps our students develop workplace skills and professional attitudes. Student Life The Gateway to Graduation career program included 10 career  events to develop student success in pre-professional skill building. Each major now offers career planning for its fields of study as well. In 2012-2013 94% of our juniors and seniors had resumes and cover letters prepared for their internship and job searches. They all participated in portfolio development and interview etiquette. The trustee-student luncheons, career workshops, guest speakers, mentoring initiatives, networking events, and business club, all strengthened the career program this past year. Career Planning Student Life experienced some exciting growth during the academic year 2012-2013.  Volunteer work on our small chapel space was completed, readying the space for meditation services and spiritual growth groups. The office of Multicultural Affairs became an officially recognized campus organization with the formal passing of bylaws and the hiring of Renata Boodhansingh as advisor. The group held a day of diversity celebration in conjunction with our International Student Organization to provide dialogue and awareness of other cultures and viewpoints. Student counseling services were brought onto campus to make access more available to students. The athletic program received exciting news on its acceptance into the North East Athletic Conference and into the exploratory membership process for NCAA Division III. Our new student orientation program began a delightful tradition in the great hall of Glencairn with the president delivering an opening address to new students, followed by upperclassmen lighting the candles of new students in preparation for a candlelight walk back to the Brickman Center. International Education College students studied abroad in France.  Four international students came to the College through  our exchange programs with University of Bordeaux (France) and University of Kyonggi (South Korea). The student body included international representation from  Australia,  Bosnia,  Canada,  France,  Germany,  Ghana, Ivory Coast,  Nepal,  Serbia,  South Africa, South  Korea, and the United Kingdom.  Alumni Association Experiential Education This past year BACAA worked with the President’s Office to clarify how the Association can provide a conduit for communication with alumni. BACAA members participated in college-wide events, including sponsoring and organizing events that directly affect students, such as a graduation ball for the entire student body. Alumni continued to support career development of students through mentoring, internships, guest lectures, workshops, and regular hours for student visits in the Alumni Office on campus. These initiatives build a network of contacts to help students find useful and fulfilling employment and to support ongoing connections among The experiential education program includes internships, career planning, service learning, and coursework.
