For our eleventh anniversary in 2016, Student Research Day will for the first time be a two-day conference, on February 11 and 12. In addition, to accommodate students who come to campus at night, we will be having evening sessions for the first time.

Finally, we will be having as Distinguished Guest Speaker Sandra Tsing Loh, the author of six books, including The Madwoman in the Volvo, which was named one of 2015's Most Notable books by the New York Times. She has been a regular commentator on NPR’s "Morning Edition," and on PRI’s "This American Life" and “Marketplace”; currently, her weekly segment "The Loh Life" is heard on KPCC, and her syndicated daily minute "The Loh Down on Science," which is heard weekly by 4 million people.

To help promote student participation in Student Research Day, we'd like to ask you to take at least a moment of class time to remind your students that abstracts are due on Thursday, December 10, 2014, by 11:59 p.m., and that more information can be found on our website.

We realize your class time is extremely limited and valuable. But we also believe that participating in Student Research Day will help your students get more out of their educational experience in your classroom, help CSUDH retain more students, graduate them more expeditiously, and will increase their worth as scholars and citizens of our community.

Please support us and encourage your students to submit their abstracts. If you would like to partcipate as a judge at SRD or have any questions email me at [email protected].
