AFFORDABLE LEARNING SOLUTIONS

Merlot II: Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching is a free open resource used for the improvement of technology-based instruction with over 40,000 high quality free open course materials and more than 115,000 registered members. Originally called Merlot, a 15 year CSU initiative led by Gerry Hanley Ph.D. Assistant Vice Chancellor, Academic Technology Services Executive Director, recently had their website and search engine updated. Merlot II offers a collection of peer reviewed higher education online learning materials, catalogued by registered members and a set of faculty development support services. Members can contribute their materials or create new materials using the Merlot II Content Builder application for building instructional websites. Learn more at: MERLOT II

Listed below are a few of the initiatives and exciting new offerings for faculty to learn about and use.

Paula Sherrin, Supplemental Instructor Leader (Mr. Ramser's English 108 class), English Grad Student was asked, “Do you have any recommendations for those faculty who have not participated in the Affordable Learning Solutions program?” Paula explained, “I think that the instructors should be on the lookout for online resources because there’s such a vast availability now. We talk a lot about keeping cost down for college and that certainly would be one way to do it.”
