Message from Dr. Sandra Joireman
Chair, Bread for the World and Bread for the World Institute
How fortunate I am to have been elected as chair of the board of directors in Bread
for the World’s 40th year. This anniversary celebration provides the perfect occasion to
recognize the hard work and immense talent of the remarkable men and women who
have governed and guided Bread for the World over these four decades.
This anniversary is also an opportunity for all of us to applaud the leadership of David Beckmann, who has
so ably built on the foundation laid by
Art Simon, Joel Underwood, Barbara
Howell, and other early staff members.
Today, we are blessed with young people, who bring new energy and fresh
enthusiasm to sustain this work in the
future.
Those of us who are privileged to
serve on the board of directors or as
staff members realize we represent the
tens of thousands of individuals who,
through their financial contributions
and faith-filled actions, are Bread for
the World. Thanks to their generosity,
prayers, and activism, our Christian
voice for ending hunger is stronger
than ever.
