Men and Heart Disease.

When you think of heart disease in men, usually people think of coronary artery disease (narrowing of the arteries leading to the heart) and heart attack. But coronary artery disease is just one of many types of heart disease.

Women and Heart Disease. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in women over 40 years old, especially after menopause. And the risk of heart disease in women continues to increase with age.

Heart Disease

Heart disease, such as coronary heart disease, heart attack, congestive heart failure, and congenital heart disease, is the leading cause of death for men and women in the U.S. Prevention includes quitting smoking, lowering cholesterol, controlling high blood pressure, maintaining a healthy weight, and exercising.
