Day 2: Queenstown –
Doubtful Sound – Te Anau
Immerse yourself in the vast and
untouched wilderness of Doubtful
Sound. It will take your breath
away. Home to abundant wildlife,
you may see bottlenose dolphins
and fur seals at play, or catch
a glimpse of a rare Fiordland
Crested Penguin. Your excursion
into the pristine fiord of Doubtful
Sound begins with a cruise across
Lake Manapouri to West Arm.
Then, join your coach to travel
the sub-alpine road through
the dense rainforest. Board the
catamaran Patea Explorer for
a cruise through some of the
fiord’s most stunning scenery.
When you discover Doubtful
Sound you will be struck by its
silence – a silence broken only
by birdsong or the rushing of a
distant waterfall. Its beauty and
vastness will take your breath
away. Later, return to Te Anau.

Tasman Sea, accompanied by a

The remainder of your day is free
to take in the many scenic vistas.
Tonight, make your own way to
the Steamer Wharf for your cruise
on the historic TSS Earnslaw to
Walter Peak High Country Farm
for a gourmet barbecue dinner
at the Colonel’s Homestead.

glimpse into high country farm

Day 2: Queenstown
Free Time
Enjoy a full day at leisure in
Queenstown. Perhaps try white
water rafting, a jet boat ride
or a wine tasting tour (all own

many cafés and restaurants while
soaking up the alpine views. B
Day 3: Queenstown – Franz
Josef Glacier
Travel along the rugged West
Coast Road and over the Haast
Pass. Through the Gates of
Haast is a lost world that’s so
spectacular and remote UNESCO
designated it a World Heritage
area. This afternoon there’s
free time to explore Franz Josef
township. Perhaps take a scenic
flight over the magnificent Franz
Josef Glacier or over Mt. Cook
Day 3: Te Anau –
Milford Sound
Travel to Milford Sound for your
overnight cruise. Cruise the
full length of the Sound to the
(own expense). The magnificent
Franz Josef Glacier is widely
regarded as the gem of New
Zealand’s West Coast glaciers.
Tonight you’ll enjoy a special
West Coast dinner at your hotel.

Day 4: Franz Josef –
TranzAlpine – Christchurch
This morning continue to
Greymouth, the largest town on
the West Coast. Here you’ll board
the world-famous TranzAlpine,
one of the top six train journeys
in the world. Your train departs
Greymouth and climbs into
the Southern Alps before
descending the Canterbury
Plains to Christchurch. There
are 19 tunnels and four viaducts,
with Staircase Viaduct being 73
meters high. Dinner is at your
