Tick off the must-see sights of the Red Centre . Explore the natural wonders of Uluru , Kata Tjuta and Kings Canyon and their sacred history . Then take in an unforgettable Uluru sunset and sunrise .
Be captivated by the highlights of the Red Centre . Visit Kata Tjuta and walk through Walpa Gorge . Witness the striking outback sunset at Uluru and take in marvelous views of Kings Canyon on a rim climb or canyon floor walk .
As this Short Break departs at 7.00am , accommodations will need to be pre-booked for the previous night .
Day 1 : Alice Springs – Uluru ( Ayers Rock ) Base Tour & Sunset
Travelling south you ’ ll stop to visit a camel farm where there is time for a short camel ride ( own expense ). Later stop to view majestic Atila ( Mt . Conner ), before arriving at Ayers Rock Resort . This afternoon join your Driver Guide for a tour around the base of Uluru . Continue to the Kuniya Walk , where you ’ ll be escorted to the Mutitjulu Waterhole . View ancient rock art and learn about the Aboriginal and European history of the area . Visit the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre . Late afternoon witness the striking colour changes of Uluru at sunset while enjoying nibbles and sparkling wine . Hotel : Outback Pioneer Hotel ( B ), Desert Gardens Hotel ( R ) or Sails in the Desert Hotel ( S ), Ayers Rock Resort .
Add-on the Uluru Barbecue Dinner for $ 170 . After sunset , join us under the stars at our exclusive venue . Enjoy sparkling wine on arrival , then dine on a menu of steak , lamb sausages , chicken skewers and garlic prawns , salads and a tasty dessert . All accompanied by a selection of wines , beers and soft drinks . There ’ s time for stargazing too ( weather permitting ).
Day 2 : Uluru Sunrise – Kings Canyon
Watch the sunrise set Uluru alight , while enjoying a warming cup of tea or coffee . Then travel to the domes of Kata Tjuta ( the Olgas ). On the way enjoy panoramic views on the south side of Kata Tjuta before arriving at the base of Walpa Gorge . Spend time exploring the gorge and the unusual conglomerate rock formations . This afternoon travel to Kings Canyon . Hotel : Standard Rooms ( B & R ) or Deluxe Spa Rooms ( S ), Kings Canyon Resort .
Day 3 : Kings Canyon – Alice Springs
Join a guided climb to the rim of Kings Canyon for marvellous views of Watarrka National Park ( for those with a good level of fitness ). An easier walk along the boulder-strewn canyon creek bed is also available . This afternoon travel on to Alice Springs , where your short break concludes .

Drive through sandhill country towards Kings Canyon , stopping for a breakfast at Kings Creek Station . Climb to the rim of the canyon for marvellous views of Watarrka National Park ( for those with a good level of fitness ). Continue the 3 hour walk around the canyon with your guide and learn about its geology . Alternatively , enjoy a more leisurely 1½ hour walk along the boulder-strewn canyon creek bed . Travel to Alice Springs , where your short break concludes . B
