Day 1 : Welcome to Melbourne On arrival at Melbourne Airport you will be transferred to your hotel ( flights anytime ). The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure . Hotel : Mercure Hotel Welcome ( R ) or Crowne Plaza ( S ), Melbourne , 3 nights .
Day 2 : Great Ocean Road Admire panoramic views of the Melbourne city skyline before traveling along Victoria ’ s Great Ocean Road . See the quaint coastal towns of Lorne and Wye River , Cape Patton , and the white sandy beaches of Apollo Bay . Drive through lush tree-fern gullies and towering mountain-ash rainforests of Otway National Park . The splendour of the approaching Twelve Apostles is breathtaking . These limestone rock formations up to 45 meters high are the result of 20 million years of erosion . From the cliff top viewing area absorb the grandeur of this iconic site . Day 3 : Melbourne Sights & Penguin Parade Experience cosmopolitan Melbourne . See Parliament House , Queen Victoria Market and the Royal Botanic Gardens . Phillip Island is home to an array of wildlife , including Australia ’ s largest fur seal colony , the Little Penguins and cuddly koalas . Along the way view the powerful southern coastline with its clean , sandy beaches and rocky shores . Visit Maru Koala & Animal Park , for up close and personal encounters with koalas , kangaroos , Tasmanian Devils and much more . There ’ s the opportunity to pat and feed kangaroos , wallabies and a host of Australian wildlife . View spectacular coastal scenery at the Nobbies , two rocky outcrops abundant in marine life . Browse through the educational Phillip Island Visitor Information Centre . Learn about the Little Penguins and life on this stunning island . Watch the Little Penguins as they battle the surf and make their way to their dune burrows to greet their young families , and then learn of the environmental and conservation methods that are initiated to ensure the wildlife and vulnerable geology of Phillip Island remains protected . Day 2 : Great Barrier Reef Board a high speed catamaran and cruise to the outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef . Covering approximately 86 million acres , it is the largest reef structure and marine park in the world and offers an experience like no other . View the spectacular coral and tropical fish from the underwater observatory and semi-submersible craft . You ’ ll have the opportunity to go snorkeling and experience this natural wonder up-close ( equipment provided ). Enjoy a tropical buffet lunch before returning to Cairns early evening . B L
Day 3 : Tjapukai – Skyrail – Kuranda Visit the fascinating Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park , Australia ’ s largest indigenous cultural park which has been built in a spectacular rainforest setting . Discover this ancient culture through bush food lessons , didgeridoo and fire-making demonstrations , theater , and the famous Tjapukai Dance . A short distance from Tjapukai is the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway . Skyrail takes you over and through the breathtaking World Heritage of the Barron Gorge National Park . There are two rainforest stations where you can enjoy a ranger guided boardwalk and observe this ancient rainforest from spectacular lookouts . On arrival in Kuranda there is free time to explore the ‘ village in the rainforest ’ and its many attractions , including the Heritage Markets . After exploring , board the Kuranda Scenic Railway for a historic journey traveling through some of the oldest rainforest in the world . Passing the spectacular Stoney Creek Falls your journey winds through man-made tunnels , across bridges and around curves to arrive at its final destination , Freshwater Station . B
