Day 1 : Welcome to Hobart On arrival at Hobart Airport you ’ ll be transferred by private car to your hotel . Day 2 : Salamanca Market A free morning to enjoy the sights , sounds , flavors , color and action of Salamanca Market . Explore the market stalls , wander through the historic sandstone warehouses discovering innovative Tasmanian arts and crafts and delight in the taste and aroma of freshly baked goods and local produce . Meet the friendly people who make or grow what they sell . Take a moment to sit back and relax at one of Salamanca ’ s cafés and watch the world pass you by with a cooling ale or locally produced cider . This afternoon choose one from a selection of Included Choice sightseeing experiences . Maybe join a walking tour with a local expert for fabulous insight into Hobart ’ s history , people and places . Or perhaps visit Mawson ’ s Huts Replica Museum . They ’ ve left nothing to the imagination with the historic replication of the base Douglas Mawson built in Antarctica during his Australasian Antarctic expedition of 1911-14 . Day 3 : Hobart – Strahan This morning head west to New
Norfolk and the magnificent Mt . Field National Park , Tasmania ’ s oldest , and location of the spectacular three-tiered Russell Falls . This afternoon visit the Wall in the Wilderness , a fascinating sculpture where artist Greg Duncan has hand-carved a collection of panels commemorating those who shaped the area ’ s past and present . Travel to Queenstown , along the rainforest bordered road of World Heritage protected Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park , and on to coastal Strahan . Hotel : Strahan Village . B DW
Day 4 : Strahan – Cradle Mountain Start the day with a Gordon River cruise , where the wilderness comes to the water ’ s edge . You ’ ll be awestruck by the beauty of the dark waters reflecting the untouched wilderness . Stop at Sarah Island and discover the ruins of the penal colony . See Hell ’ s Gate and Heritage Landing , site of the 2,000 year old Huon Pine . Day 5 : Cradle Mountain This morning it ’ s time to explore Cradle Mountain National Park . Join your Travel Director for a guided walk around Dove Lake , then choose to meander through the forest and alpine heathlands on a purpose built board walk or for a more challenging hike , head to Marion ’ s Lookout . Day 6 : Cradle Mountain – Launceston This morning you ’ ll visit Hellyers Road Distillery for a guided walk through the
working distillery to see ingredients and processes that deliver one of the finest single malt whiskys in the world . Next up you ’ ll visit Sheffield , town of the murals , before heading to 41 ° South Salmon & Ginseng Farm . Join the Pyka family to hear how they came to be salmon farmers when they arrived in Australia from Germany . Take a wander through their property to learn a little about aquaculture and feed salmon in the feeding ponds . Before you leave you ’ ll have the chance to taste their fresh smoked salmon and ginseng products . Continue through the Meander Valley to Tassie ’ s ‘ northern capital ’ Launceston . Day 7 : Launceston This morning you ’ ll visit Cataract Gorge before you take a scenic country drive through the Tamar Valley ’ s rolling hills . The views from the surrounding vineyards and lakes provide an idyllic location to enjoy tasting some of the estategrown cool climate wines and tucking in to some fresh local Tasmanian produce . Day 8 : Launceston – Bicheno Bridestowe Lavender Estate is your first stop today . It has been growing lavender since 1922 when a London perfumer planted lavender seeds from the French Alps on his family estate which he named after his wife ’ s birthplace in England . Try some
