T RAVEL A peaceful and inspiring place amongst the chaos of one of the largest cities in the world, The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe (Basílica de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe) is a Roman Catholic church, basilica and National shrine of Mexico. The church has been rebuilt three times due to damage and sinking foundations. According to the Miraculous Story, a priest sent peasant Juan Diego to gather roses from the garden. He would use his cloak to carry the roses back to the church. When he unfolded his cloak to drop the roses to the church floor an image of the Virgin Mary was left stained into the cloth. Skeptical are the non-believers until a recent scientific study has shown that the reflection of those present at the time the roses were dropped from the cloak (Dec.09, 1531) is shown in the eyes of the Virgin Mary. Considering the size of the pupils in the image, and technology available in 1531, it is impossible for this to be man-made. The actual cloak is displayed here. 132 Perfect Wedding Magazine A New Era / Spring 2017
