  A bowler gets a set of 6 pitches to bowl. A set of six pitches is called a over. A match is limited by number of overs a side gets to bowl at the opponents. International cricket is mainly 50 overs a side or 20 overs a side Cricket. A team must change the bowler after he is done with his over. He may bowl later as long as he has not exhausted his quote of overs. Quota of overs depends on the total number of overs and is typically total number of overs divided by five.  A bowler is allowed to pitch/bounce the ball before it gets to the batsman.  A batsman is allowed to *not run* after hitting the ball.  If deemed safe after hitting, the two batting side players go back and forth between the two bases and both reaching the other end safely constitutes one run. They may run multiple runs.
