Pride Game The Pride Game returned to Melbourne in 2018, with the Saints taking on the Swans in Round 12. The theme of 2018’s game was I’ll Stand By You, an ode to the importance of family and support networks among the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer (LGBTIQ) community. INITIATIVES + + Pride Game launch held at The Prince Hotel with over 100 guests. The launch also saw the 2018 Pride Game ambassador and Young Victorian of the Year, Georgie Stone, introduced to the Saints faithful. + + The charity of choice for the Pride Game was LGBTIQ youth charity Minus18. With $1 from every Pride Pass Membership, as well as proceeds from the post-game player worn guernsey auction, all donated to the organisation. A total of $7361.00 was raised. + + Staff, players and supporter group Saints Pride supported the Yarra Glen Pride Cup Game. The Saints’ team song is one of belonging, those words ‘how I want to be in that number, when the saints go marching in’ – that’s what we all want. We all want to be loved, we all want to be respected, we all want to be cared for and we all want to belong, and that’s why this game is so important.” REBECCA ROBERTSON Pride Advocate 24 Awarded the 2018 highest-ranking overall score in the Pride in Sport Index (PSI) at the 2018 Australian Pride in Sport Awards. The PSI, an initiative of the Australian Human Rights Commission and the Australian Sports Commission, has been specifically designed to assess the level of inclusion of LGBTI people within Australian sport. The Saints ranked highest in the country on this scale, which assesses everything from strategies to accountability, staff policies to sanctions and reporting.
