HILAND DAIRY produces and delivers the farm-fresh milk,
butter, ice cream and other dairy foods you enjoy each day.
The company has 15 plants, 49 distribution centers and many
different job opportunities. Hiland team members can build careers
in manufacturing, production, sales, distribution or clerical and
administrative positions.
Hiland has been in business more than 80 years. The company was
founded by two men in Springfield, Missouri in1938. Back then,
the two sold milk door-to-door at homes in the area. Today, you’ll
find Hiland Dairy products in states across the Midwest including
Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Iowa.
The dairy industry may have started out low-tech,
using horse-drawn carts to deliver milk stored in
wooden chests, but times have changed. “Hiland
uses high-tech robotics and state-of-the art
technology to ship and store its milk,” explains
Matt Conner, the sales manager at Hiland’s
Fayetteville location. “Technology improves
efficiency and means milk usually goes from
the farm to your table in just 48 hours.” Conner
says Hiland needs route drivers, cooler workers
and production team members at its Fayetteville
location.
Hiland’s production team is responsible for a variety of jobs
including cleaning and maintaining machinery, mixing product
ingredients and keeping production areas safe and clean. Team
members must be at least 18 years old and have a high school
diploma or GED. You must also have basic math skills, follow
directions and complete written daily reports.
The company’s route drivers act as modern-day milkmen by
delivering the company’s products to store shelves for customers to
buy. Drivers typically start their day early in the morning to load and
check each retail customer’s order. Then, they deliver the products
to each client and unload the items. Conner explains that not just
anyone can drive for Hiland. “To be a driver for us, you must have

transportation experience and a good driving record. You must also
be physically fit.”
no artificial growth hormones. They also do everything possible to
minimize waste and environmental impact. Hiland recycles milk
crates, batteries, tires, oil, paper, cardboard and plastic. It also
reduces the use of water and electricity and partners with vendors
who share the same commitment to protecting the environment.
Hiland looks for people who share its mission of continually striving
to provide high quality products and wants team members who are
willing to go the extra mile. “We believe in being better than we
have to be,” Conner says. “That means setting high standards for
performance and quality control and meeting or exceeding those
marks. We never settle for less than the very best we can offer.”
If you have a positive attitude, are dependable,
take pride in your work and show leadership, you
may have what it takes to join the team. You must
pass a drug screening and a physical.
Hiland believes in doing what’s right. “We treat
our people, our greatest asset, with dignity and
respect,” Conner says. “We attract and retain
high quality people by providing team members
with a competitive compensation package and
continually training and upgrading the skills of our
people.”
Conner says team members can advance at the Fayetteville plant
and branches in other states too. Benefits at Hiland include medical,
dental and life insurance, a retirement plan, paid vacation and
holidays and educational assistance to help grow your skills and
career.
