90's Nostalgia Commemorative Issue April 2017 | Page 3

MADEXXXX PUBLISHER’S LETTER There was something about the 90's era that has stuck with the culture and has had us yearning for more. More wholesome television, more good music, more meaningful content. Today, we are begging to bring that "old" thing back. When I need a little inspiration, I still tune into past television shows that I believe have shaped my views, interests and creativity today. Back then, entertainment not only provided an opportunity to laugh but unforgettable life lessons that can still be applied to our lives in this very moment. One valuable lesson I learned from partaking in the trends of the time resonates with me the most: Break the Rules: In order to be successful, it is a requirement to step outside of the daily routines of everyday life. To reach massive success, we must contribute perspectives that have never been shared before. Diversity in thought has the ability to birth our greatest works. This is clearly displayed through 90's music, television and film. This universal truth, pinpointed by the unforgettable and vibrant nature of the times, merely represents why the decade was one of the greatest of all time. It was distinct. There was no other era like it. DIVERSITY IN THOUGHT HAS THE ABILITY TO BIRTH OUR GREATEST WORKS." At some point in time, we (as creators) pulled back and began to follow the trends and mute ourselves. I hope this throwback edition will remind us of the greatness of the past but will also spark new ideas to tap into newfound creativity. Step outside the box of the norm. Do you. We were all put on this earth to leave our own unique mark. As we draw from the past, let's be inspired to innovate for our future. Kris Cheers, made-magazine.com | 3
