MADEMUSIC MADEXXXX comes to making my music , I don ’ t try to look at any other influencers because I don ’ t want to sound like them .
MADE : What does your songwriting process look like ?
RTN : There are two parts to how I do it . I ’ ll get on people ’ s nerves . I ’ ll start humming a tune and start saying words and all of a sudden the words just start fitting and then I ’ ll just start thinking of the instrumental within my head and I don ’ t even have a beat . And then I ’ ll take it to a producer and do it right in front of them and they ’ ll start developing some of the beats around my vocals . Other times , I picture a movie or like I ’ m in a film before I even write , I ’ ll hear an instrumental and then I ’ ll just start staring off into space . . . I ’ ll always picture myself like I ’ m in a movie , like in a scene , like there ’ s something happening , like I ’ m in a certain situation , and as I visualize it I can see it and then I start saying words that complement that vision .

MADE : What ’ s the biggest lesson you ’ ve learned so far from being in the music industry ? RTN : Don ’ t forget you ’ re not famous and do it yourself . I ’ ve met a lot of people , where just because they have their friends at the show or have a little bit of a crowd they get their egos up , they think that they can say and do whatever they want to do because they ’ re in the moment . I ’ ve even met people who wouldn ’ t even give me a shot and then once they see me performing at the House of Blues , now all of a sudden their attitude towards me changes . Honestly , that ’ s how you burn bridges .
MADE : What do you hope listeners will take away from “ Gene Therapy ”?
RTN :: Honestly , Gene Therapy was meant to be out there for the perception of whoever listens to it and how you feel . I really don ’ t want to tell people how to feel and what to feel , because then I feel like I ’ m controlling their thought process . So the music is however people perceive it . I would actually think it ’ s interesting to see how the world perceives it .
