It's that time of year again when the entries for the next Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) opens and the flood of riders apply for one of the 280 or so places available.

SSDT 2019 will run from Monday May 6th to Saturday May 11th and as usual is likely to be highly oversubscribed with a ballot deciding the successful entrants.

The SSDT is the top tier of Trials riding and saw a close battle last year before Dougie Lampkin took his 12th win making him the most successful rider in SSDT history despite James Dabill leading the standings until the final day.

Scottish rider Gary MacDonald finished third last year after winning the Pre-65 Trial just days before.

Other wining Scots included Andrew Anderson winning the George Baird Memorial Trophy for best placed Scottish rider (resident in Scotland) on a motorcycle over 250cc who has not won any other trophy, cup or class award; Alan MacMaster winning the Jimmy McGregor Memorial Trophy for the best performance by a Scottish competitor (resident in Scotland) on a motorcycle Rider up to 250cc who has not won any other trophy, cup or class award; and Mark MacMillan winning the Davie Hogg Memorial Trophy for the best performance by a Scottish competitor who has never previously ridden the SSDT.
