This is much more than a Free Emergency First Aid Course for Bikers. This made me think about my riding, my riding partners, the environment we ride in and even what my biker buddies are wearing, all this information could save the life of someone dear to me.
Probably the most surprising and humbling part of this wonderfully written and professionally executed, truly lifesaving course is that all the firefighters involved in Biker Down are volunteers. They are not paid to deliver this course or even allocated extra time.
The firefighter that took the lead on my course had just come off a nightshift and was on duty that night. These heroes, and I believe them to be heroes, do this unpaid. SFRS are working hard to reduce the number of motorcyclists killed or injured on Scotland’s roads, they are that dedicated to saving lives.
