The decisive race proved to be in heat 11 with Campton and Barker racing each other but still able to take a 5-1 to open a 4 point lead.

Campton kept it that way with a heat 12 victory before Barker blasted pass Lawson in heat 13 when it looked like a home 4-2 was on the cards.

Tigers were looking like getting that 4-2 in heat 14 only for Hall to fall on the last lap when third. Mechanical failure seemed to be the reason.

Any chance Glasgow had of getting a draw disappeared with Worrall going through the tapes in heat 15. Lawson did manage to beat Barker though in a entertaining final heat of 2017.

This meeting was like the 2017 season in a nutshell in that they had a good start, dipped alarmingly in the middle and never really recovered.

It’s interesting to note that Glasgow only won two league matches after Nike Lunna’s injury, with 4 defeats in 6 at home in that time. They hadn’t lost a home match prior to that.

With the season over Glasgow are now planning ahead with the opening race in April 2018. (Glasgow Tigers)
