Enfield's 650 Twins are Here

With EICMA and Motorcycle Live finished a look back at some of the bigger changes for some manufacturers lands us square on the doorstep of Royal Enfield.

By bringing out their 650 Twin in the form of the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 RE have embarked on a push to attract more customers to the brand whilst continuing the RE legacy.

Combining the efforts of their team in Chennai and their new research facility in Leicestershire, RE have developed a new air-oil cooled 650 parallel twin engine that both models share - in addition to the frame developed by Harris Performance.

The Interceptor is much more of a retro roadster while the Continental GT 650 is modelled on the current Continental GT café racer.

The 650 engine is reported to produce 47 hp and 37 pound-feet of torque so it's not going to be a speed-freak but it has the look and hopefully has the capacity to be a fun ride all the same.
