LCSD Focused on Building Relationships
As we enter into the holiday season, we are reminded of the importance of
relationships. Whether it is with our family, friends, or co-workers, rela-
tionships help chart our course and determine our future. As Superinten-
dent of the Lauderdale County School District, it is my responsibility to cre-
ate new and strengthen existing relationships within our community. Dur-
ing the month of November, our district sponsored several events in this
effort. On Wednesday November 14, we hosted a “Cake & Coffee” event for
our area media outlets, and on November 16, area ministers were invited
for a breakfast. Both events were a time of great discussion focused on
strengthening our community, and we thank all who attended, as well as
our sponsors. We look forward to continued collaborative efforts to im-
prove the lives of students. I also had the privilege to attend a luncheon
with our area retired teachers on Wednesday, November 14. Their passion

and support for public education is exciting and we value their
unceasing commitment to helping all students in our area achieve success.
Our work in strengthening community relationships continues during the month of December, as we
have several community-wide events planned and encourage all to come be a part. December 11 at 6:00
p.m. we will host a free concert at the MSU Riley Center featuring our high school bands, MCC Brass
Band, and EMCC Jazz Ensemble. Two of our high school chorus groups will also be participating in “Car-
oling in the Courtyard” at Bonita Lakes Mall in the Belk foyer area. West Lauderdale High School will be
on stage December 8 at 1:00 p.m. and Northeast High School is on tap for December 15 at 12:00 p.m. We
hope you will come be a part of this time of fun and fellowship as we celebrate the holiday season and
support the students in the Lauderdale County School District.
In closing, the holidays remind us all of the importance of family. Whether our own personal family or
our work family, relationships matter and make us better people. There is a quote that says, “Family, like
branches on a tree, may grow in different directions yet our roots remain as one.” The Lauderdale
County School District has ingrained roots that bind us together to provide strength and support
through times of adversity and times of celebration. I encourage you to take time to reZlect this holiday
season on the relationships that matter most and, if needed, invest in some “Miracle Grow” and watch
what happens.
