4 Corners A Publication of Lauderdale County Schools Volume VI Issue V December 2018 LCSD Begins Strategic Planning in 2019 The Christmas season has arrived in Lauderdale County School District. Over the past several weeks, the sights, sounds, and festivities of the holiday season have reminded us all, not only of the importance of the season, but the true purpose for the work we do each day, our students. Across the district, students have shared their talents through Christ- mas programs, special events, and demonstrated the true meaning of giving through community service projects. This year our district extended the spirit of the season beyond the walls of our schools and into the community. Our first annual free Holiday Concert was held at the MSU Riley Center on December 11, with participation by LCSD bands, MCC Brass Dr. John-Mark Cain, Superintendent Band, and EMCC Jazz Ensemble. The community support was phenomenal and we look forward to providing more opportunities to build and strengthen relationships throughout Lauderdale County. Again, we thank all of our spon- sors for making this event possible. It is with great anticipation we welcome in the New Year in the Lauderdale County School District. The year 2019 will bring many new and exciting challenges as we begin the Strategic Planning process in February. As we develop a shared mission, vision, val- ues, and goals, involvement of all stakeholders will be key. This endeavor will be a criti- cal component to the continued success of our school district and community, as the strategic planning process seeks to articulate organizational priorities and stakeholder values; align workforce and resources to the strategic goals and objectives; increase stakeholder commitment to a common vision; provide a communication vehicle to in- form stakeholders about district initiatives; and effectively and authentically engage all employees and stakeholders. In the coming months, look for more information to come as we embark on this transformation journey together. On behalf of the Lauderdale County School Board, I wish all of you a safe and happy holiday season! Respectfully, Dr. John-Mark Cain, Superintendent Lauderdale County School District
