Premier Players at SHS

      SHS is proud of its two soccer players who were named in March to the Meridian Star's "Premier
Preps" Soccer Teams.  Sophomore Tay Roberts and Senior Andrés Alonso were named to the girls'
and boys' teams, respectively, this year.    Roberts is a midfielder, and was chosen because "she was
named Ms. Offense for Southeast Lauderdale the past two seasons. She finished with 26 goals and
was selected to the All-Region 5-1/2/3A team. An electric offensive component for Southeast Lauder-
dale, Roberts scored four goals in four contests, and ended the year with seven multi-goal outings,"
according to the Meridian Star.  
      Also a midfielder, the Star says of Andrés: "A two-year captain and a returning Premier Preps
player, Alonso finished the season with 18 goals and seven assists for the Tigers. Alonso was named
first-team All-Region for four straight years and was Region 5-1/2/3A MVP the past two seasons. He
will play soccer at Meridian Community College."
     We are so proud of these soccer players and their success  here at SHS!
