vinnie r.

My name is Vinnie R. I’m from the Caribbean Island of Trinidad and Tobago. I am much of a reclusive person, who likes living in my own world. I am a romantic at heart, a spiritualist by faith with a strong belief that there is someone out there looking out for us, no matter what you call him/her.

I enjoy the company of little kids, good music, and my baby parrot that has me wrapped around his little green feathers, reading and Bollywood movies and the internet. Sometimes I feel a bit old fashioned as in this age of technology I still love the use of pen and paper, and would rather receive a letter through the mail than e-mail, or speak to someone over the phone rather than text messaging… The personal touch I think is what makes it unique and special!

A few years ago I discovered that I have a love for writing and creating stories, poems. To me writing is really a release, a fun way to express my imagination, sadness, anger, happiness, love. It is an escape into a world that unfolds in the mind. There is something about seeing the words shape up on paper to create a story that is just satisfying on a deep level.

My philosophy in life, take each day as it comes, enjoy every moment even the tears and the pain as it is that which defines us and shows us just how strong the human spirit is.

Why did you join 30dac?

I initially joined 30dac in support of my friend Lee Ann who was trying something new. I can honestly say that that experience has helped me a lot in developing a discipline in actually sitting down and writing something, as before this I never really got serious about it. It has made me own the title of a writer, maybe unpublished as yet, but I love writing, it is my passion, it is my reprieve. It is my release! I loved the experience I have had in the past 3 challenges. I met some awesome artist and got to see some incredible art work, and made a few friends along the way.

I have an deep appreciation and respect now for not only writers, but for photographers , painters, sketch artist and others who take the time, dedication to feed their passion, and keep it alive! You guys rock seriously! The support, the love, the appreciation that is given to each other during the 30 days is amazing, and now it feels like we are some kind of family or kindred spirits. It is a wonderful feeling. Every challenge that comes up and I see it growing I feel proud if I can be a part of it, even as a silent supporter, like the July challenge.

I will end by saying Thank You Lee Ann for this experience. For helping me to develop and pay attention to my art for giving me the opportunity to showcase my writing. You are truly a visionary and I am glad to be a part of it!

Happy Creating everyone!

Love , Vinnie R.
