hear words like “You and your art work will never amount to anything,” from some one who suposivly loves you… you either do 2 things in life... You stand and fight or die. I was lying down and allowing my art to die because I bought into those words. When you try to work those words hurt and linger. You doubt your work and talent. It’s hard to establish yourself and fail and fail you get depressed and I realized while in college and school I was less depressed about my art and had energy from other artist and I feel like that’s what this group has done bring back a small portion of what I got out of school without the tuition costs. I do have a show in November but not sure I will be showing this body of work or if ill have to create something more. I love viewing other peoples art that’s how we learn about our own art and see where others might not have hit that point and where we missed the point totally… that’s why its called a challenge .. it means to push yourself in a direction you might not otherwise explore… and if it’s easy you’re not doing it right. Each painting in this series has been a lil experiment in technique or color or comp.

I may never make it big. I may never accomplish greatness or even mediocerness. It’s mine and It’s what I need to say. Its my freedom of speech with what little of that is allowed anymore. I just hope one day it speaks to others and they can appreciate it or not.
