DAY 5 Destination: Tembe Elephant Park …………………………………………………………………………… Later this morning we visit a local orphanage which is run by a dedicated NGO organization determined to improve the lives of the local Mozambique people. A short drive will take us into rural northern Zululand, where we will proceed to Tembe Elephant Park. This remote park, deep in an area of Sand forests, pans and wetlands has spectacular birdlife due to its great diversity of vegetation. Tembe Elephant Park is home to the Big 5 as well as a variety of other game but is especially known for its elephants which are reputed to be some of the tallest in Africa. These African giants are also renowned for their large tusks. As only 4X4 vehicles are allowed into the park due to the sand tracks that form the road network, a game drive Tembe feels like a true safari adventure. DAY 6 Destination: Tembe Elephant Park …………………………………………………………………………… Today we visit the site of a traditional fish trap in Kosi Bay. The Local Thonga people have been using this traditional and sustainable method of catching fish for generations and today we learn about the traditional way in which they are still built today and how they work to minimize the impact on the fish levels within the Kosi Bay lakes. The afternoon is yours to spend at leisure.
